Christina Muri Irland
Christina Muri Irland serves as a community research specialist for the SWTCIE Illinois project and the Illinois Institute for Rehabilitation and Employment Research at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the team, she worked as a special education teacher and transition specialist in Chicago Public Schools for over 11 years. In her work as an educator, she assisted her students in preparing for life after high school through instruction and connection with community agencies. In her work as a transition specialist, she supported special education teachers in facilitating best practices in their classroom, as well as, writing individualized education plans that met Indicator 13 compliance standards. Most recently, Christina worked as an educational consultant for Transition Tennessee (TransitionTN) at Vanderbilt University. There, she provided technical assistance to schools and special educators across the State of Tennessee, in addition to developing resources that are housed on the TransitionTN website.
