Claire Stelter

Claire Stelter is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Through her research, she seeks to center the voices of individuals with disabilities, their families, and their communities. Her research activities include working on the Illinois Subminimum Wage to Competitive Integrated Employment (SWTCIE) project and other projects that support quality employment, career development, family involvement, training/technical assistance, and evaluation.

Claire has expertise in the latest research, policies, and best practices for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Claire has her teaching license in Special Education as a learning and behavior specialist and previously taught in the transition program at Urbana High School in Urbana, Illinois. During her Ph.D., Claire worked as an employment specialist with the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Human Services and Vocational Rehabilitation. Most recently, Claire completed a postdoctoral research position at the University of Kansas’s Center on Developmental Disabilities (KUCDD).
