A Message from the Director

Welcome to the Illinois Institute for Rehabilitation and Employment Research (IIRER) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The institute is committed to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions by conducting research and providing training and technical assistance that addresses the interactions of work and health to promote well-being and community integration of people with disabilities.  Our diverse staff is both knowledgeable and passionate about fulfilling our mission and committed to working with our communities in Illinois, the United States, and across the world.  With an emphasis on innovation our institute uses multidisciplinary approaches to address issues related to career development, employment, health and community integration to discover the factors that impact outcomes and develop interventions that can facilitate positive outcomes and provide the basis for evidence supported training and technical assistance.

We encourage you to visit our website, check out our staff and projects, institute partners, and importantly let us know what you, your staff, and your projects are doing to address the career development, employment, well-being, and community integration of individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions.  We would love to have you as a project partner.
