Xiaolei Tang

Xiaolei Tang serves as research training specialist for the Illinois Institute for Rehabilitation and Employment Research (IIRER) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is currently responsible for developing and implementing training agenda for the IIRER. In collaboration with the Illinois Department of Human Services and other associated agencies, she develops, coordinates and delivers evidence-based trainings for service providers in the content areas of medical, psychosocial, and vocational aspects of disabilities and chronic health conditions. Her other work activities include cross projects research and training support, research development and dissemination in vocational rehabilitation counseling-related topics, and evaluation support.

Prior to joining the U. of I., Xiaolei was an assistant professor at Arkansas Tech University, adjunct faculty member at Mount Mary University (Milwaukee), instructor and project assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the assistant director of the El Salvador Mental Health Promotion Project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on disability grief, supported employment for people with post-traumatic stress disorder, and international rehabilitation. She also specializes in providing grief support for children and adults.
